We celebrate the life of Dorothy Ann Boreck, also known as Dottie Rock, Dorothy Harrison, and Mom.
She lived March 21, 1934 to December 27, 2016.
Dorothy Ann Harrison was born to William and Etta Harrison in Agawam, Massachusetts. She was raised on the family farm with her 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
In a journal she wrote that as a child, alone in the strawberry patch, picking strawberries, she could sense God’s presence. Although she couldn’t understand it, she knew there was a mighty and caring God.
In her words, “this somehow gave me power to be my own person. To be different. To put His way first and let Him direct me. To know that He loved me, changed my life.”
On March 6, 1953, at age 18, she married John Rock.
John and Dottie Rock went on to have four “beautiful”children, (to use her words), and loved many foster children as well throughout their years.
She has been blessed with 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren with one more on the way!
After John went on to be with the Lord, Dottie realized her dream of working with missionaries in Africa. After returning home to Florida, Mom got remarried. She married Herb Boreck on December 3rd, 2005 and they enjoyed 11 years together in Port Orange. Herb and Dottie are active members of CrossRoads Baptist Church.
Mom loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed spending time together for holidays and anytime in between.
Her grace was endless – she tried to “be there” when needed and out of the way when not.”
Dottie accepted Jesus at an early age and she shared His grace with many.
She had a prayer closet for most of her life and kept prayer lists and prayer journals, always praying for those in need.
Dottie enjoyed children and youth, encouraging them to look to Jesus for direction in life. She blessed many lives by donating her time to Vacation Bible School, Bible Studies, and serving in the church in many ways.
Mom was a witness to everyone who knew her. Her goal in life was to be a servant for Christ and share the Good Word with as many people as she could.
She was always kind, loving, gentle and graceful.
She loved spending time with her family and loved spending time on the beach. She lived her life to the fullest!
Dorothy, Dottie, Momma Rock-us, Gramma, GiGi, Sister Dot, was loved by many and will not be forgotten. She was an amazing woman and now has gone home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
We ALL miss her dearly.
